About the car:

The #19 BMW 135i was purchased in 2008 and built in 2009. The team developed the car over 2-3 years, and paved the way for making the 135i the longstanding competitor amongst other Class B vehicles that it still is today.

The “Sherrin Gold” coloured car had its debut in the 2011 Australian Manufacturers Championship (now known as the Australian Production Cars Series). And was the Class B championship winner two years in a row.

After a number of years showing its performance, the Sherrin Racing team developed a second BMW 135i in 2013. And the #19 car was only then surpassed in Class B by the new Red #18 Sherrin BMW 135i. But #19 then continued to place second on the podium behind the newer addition to the team.

A highlight in the history of this car was in 2016 when the team competed in the inaugural Bathurst 6 Hour event at the infamous Mount Panorama track. It is a now annual event held over Easter for Group 3E Production Cars. And in it’s first year the team and the #19 BMW135i finished on the podium in second place! It was a great result for the team, especially considering the first place car was driven by two young professional supercar drivers.

The car has had a few driver changes amongst the Sherrin Racing team over the years, and was also raced by our long time friend David Russell in the 2019 Bathurst 6 Hour. But ultimately it is team principle Michael Sherrin who has been the primary driver of the car.

With Michael currently enjoying the crucial role of Team Manager, 2020 will see Klae Eckhardt and David Ayres behind the wheel to take part in the Australian Production Car Series, with the goal of a Class B championship in their sight.
